We stayed at this motel, across from the marina. It was built from ONE curly redwood tree that produced 57,000 board feet of lumber. It has a beautiful grain. Pictures do not really do it justice!
Stepping inside is a "blast from the past"!
It was built in 1957 and has much the same decor, with no frills,
but VERY clean and inexpensive!
Gear is laid out and ready to ride in the morning!
DAY 1: It was an overcast day, but not cold.
We stopped at an overlook,
(looking down where the Klamath River meets the Pacific Ocean)
to try to catch sight of a whale.
We only saw the one...BELOW!
An informative local bystander kindly took our picture and filled us in on the great salmon run they have been having this year.
The Indians were all along the river,
catching them like crazy with their nets!
We went to a drive-thru...
TREE, that is!

Lunched at Cafe Marina in Eureka.
The tomato bisque soup was AWESOME!
LIKE THE COMPANY!
It was getting chilly for the 2+ hour ride back to Crescent City,
so Paul added his liner.

OK....I have a LITTLE trouble, if I don't psych myself up for some of the leaning on the curves!
Almost back to Crescent City, the sun decides to peek through,
to give us the perfect ending to a wonderful day together!
Actually, it should be credited to OUR CREATOR!
DAY 2: Coast ride north to Gold Beach
We began our trip in the car, because Paul's arms were a bit beat up from the rough ride
the day before on torn up road....due to road work. But a half hour up the road, and total sunshine, we decided to go back and get the bike. After all, that's why we brought it!
Dinner at the Chart Room, then a look at the seal lions covering the docks, and another beautiful sunset!
NEVER get tired of sunsets! ;} wink wink!
Heading home.....
The density and darkness of the beautiful forest
