Quick trip North

We made a quick trip North on Sunday/Monday. Stayed overnight at Curt and Mom's in Corvallis. Sophie had fun, watching Grandma sew, and also going through her basket of scraps, in which she found a scrap of a her dress! She rode the chair down with gma, and made waffles in the morning. On Monday, we continued on up to Portland to meet with our social worker, who is updating our homestudy for our adoption. Our fingerprints are about to expire, so one thing on top of another...before we apply for an extention on the expiration date, we have to update the paperwork! So many HOOPS!

First football game

End score 66-6...Triad wins! Such a turn around from the first game last year, where they lost, 50 something to 6. Didn't get any good shots of Jordan IN the game. It's a little harder to catch, but he isn't often on the sidelines. He plays defensive end, and special team...whatever that is. I am just learning all the positions, on a need to know basis. Travis is still jealous...maybe I'll let him play dress up in JP's uniform, take his picture so he can see how cool he would have looked in those spandex pants, had they had a football team when he was in school! Jordan is one of the tallest boys on the team...he likes being number 2...something intimidating about "divide you by 2".

Isaac

On Labor Day, we had a family breakfast with Tyler, Ana, and Isaac, Ana's parents, Randy and Bev, Dad Mohlers, and Jason and Sarah and kiddos. Sadly I didn't pick up the camera enough, cause I only got pics of Isaac. We had Finnish pancakes, which are baked in the oven, then covered with a multitude of toppings: most commonly sausage, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, berries, and syrup. Now you may be saying, "YUK!" , but don't knock it till you try it. I am one of the biggest fans of keeping foods on my plate separate, particularly fruits and veggies or meat. But, I like this!

25 years... WOW

Twenty Five years ago, Beth embarked on quite the adventure... marrying me! This week we celebrated our 25th anniversary and feel like the past 25 years have just raced past.

Looking at this photo, you can see that at least one of us still looks young. Beth is an amazing woman who inspite of 3 boys, 2 girls and another one on the way barely looks like she has aged abit. As I look back at the past 25, it is amazing to see where we have been, and just as amazing, where we are going. God has really blessed us with 5 wonderful children, our beautiful daughter inlaw and a handsome little grandson Isaac. It is hard to imagine life without anyone of them, and now as we are expecting #6, we can hardly wait to see how our famiy changes when we bring AJ home from China. Hopefully soon!

We celebrated rather mildly, (in anticipation of our upcoming trip to China) and we had a wonderful dinner out at our local Italian place, Bel Tramonto. Food was wondreful and Beth and I were able to enjoy a quiet evening out, just the two of us and reflect on our lives together.

God is good and has promised to give us the desires of our hearts, it will be just amazing to see what he has planned for our future. No matter how hard we try, it must be his plan, and his will for our lives in order for us to be truly satisfied.

Sunday Night Sushi and the Singles

Sunday night we had a BBQ/Game night for the College/Singles in our church. Ernest...being American/Taiwanese...brought Sushi...one kind made with fresh raw tuna. Well, Sushi is new to some of us, so it turned into a little "Fear Factor" style cheering each other on to try this new thing. Lindsey (not a fish-lover) had the hardest time. I think she looked at it too long. It finally went down...washed by iced tea...and from my motherly intuition...almost came back up!
